Richard Holmberg

Richard T. Holmberg holds a bachelor’s degree from Northern State University in Aberdeen, South Dakota and a master’s degree in piano from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. He continued his post-graduate study at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.

He was director of music for the School Town of Munster in Munster, Indiana for 35 years, during which time he built the music department into one of the most successful music programs in the state. He was also in charge of the vocal music department, which included as many as three hundred students participating in choirs and select vocal ensembles.

Richard is past president of the Northwestern University Alumni Association in Naples and has also served as a member of their Alumni Admission Council. He is a member of the Henry Wade Rogers and John Evans societies for Northwestern.

In Naples, Richard has been active with a number of music organizations. He was president of the Naples Music Club for two years and has served as a director of Classic Chamber Concerts. He was also Musical Director of the Naples Orchestra and Chorus for two and half years, succeeding its original conductor and founder, the late Mr. Ralph Stewart.

In 2009, Richard was reelected to a second term on the Board of the Naples Music Club. He currently serves as Secretary of the club. In the past, Richard has facilitated partnerships between the Naples Music Club and both Northwestern and Indiana University that have resulted in joint recitals, thereby  enhancing the Naples Music Club’s visibility and providing additional funds for scholarships.
