A native of Spartanburg, South Carolina, she holds a master’s degree in French from the University of South Carolina and lived and studied in France for many years. She also taught French on both the high school and college level. A career change then took her to communications and marketing, which led to her becoming marketing director for Harbison Development Corporation, a planned community in Columbia, S.C.
After visiting Naples since 1996, her husband Mike and she became Florida residents in 2004. Currently she is involved as a volunteer with The Shelter for Abused Women and Children, as a member of the Civic Involvement Committee of The League Club, and as a guild member of OperaNaples. She is also a graduate of the Greater Naples Leadership program.
When not in Naples, her home is in McLean, Virginia. She has one daughter, three step-sons, and four grandchildren.
She says that for as long as she can remember, music and dance have been integral parts of her life. “Though unfortunately I do not play any instrument, I try to make up for this lack by being especially appreciative of fine performances. And I’m devoted to the mission of The Naples Music Club.”
