The Florida State Music Teachers Association
Annual Meeting, October 23-25, 2015
Sanibel Harbour Marriott Resort and Spa
There is a wonderful opportunity for the members of the Naples Music Club to enjoy a musical and educational conference weekend this October 23 – 25, 2015, in Ft. Myers. As Chair of this year’s Florida State Music Teachers annual conference, it is my pleasure to invite music-lovers in our SW Florida community to attend all or part of the FSMTA annual music conference.
What I am most proud of are the recitals of Friday and Saturday night! The Friday night (Winners’ Concert) will feature the top young pre-college age musicians from our State, who have competed all year for this honor. We have a duo piano team performing Rachmaninoff’s 2nd Suite, another young fellow playing Rachmaninoff’s 2nd Concerto, a piano quartet, and Naples’ own young violinist Stephanie Dujuin performing the Saint Saens concerto. Saturday night (the Conference Artist’s Recital) will feature our own Richard Bosworth on the 9 foot Fazioli. His program has something to please almost everyone – the Bach/Busoni Chaconne, Ravel’s Gaspard de la Nuit, Beethoven’s Op. 101 Sonata, and of course a collection of Rachmaninoff transcriptions and preludes. What a feast! (Please see the full announcement here.)
So you can understand how excited I am, as a local musician, to hear these performances, and that is why I would like to share this opportunity with other music-lovers in our area. I could go on and on to describe the topics of the sessions that will be presented during the day, but we can leave that for further discussions.
